Standing stairlift for more freedom in everyday life
A standing stairlift safely carries you up or down the stairs while standing. You don’t need to sit down. Just step on, hold on and go.

The space-saving solution for hip and knee problems
What is a standing stairlift?
A standing stairlift is a special type of stairlift that safely transports a person up or down a staircase while standing or in a slightly inclined position. The standing platform is made of non-slip material and features sturdy handrails and padded knee supports to help maintain balance.
The lift travels on a rail mounted either to the steps or the wall. It is powered by a 24-volt DC motor with battery backup, allowing it to operate even during a power outage. With a speed of about 0.12 meters per second, the lift moves smoothly and quietly up or down the stairs.
Because it is used in a standing or semi-standing position, there is no need to sit down or stand up. This makes the standing stairlift an ergonomic and comfortable solution for people who have limited joint flexibility. For example, those with hip or knee problems.
A standing stairlift is the ideal solution for anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs but still wants to live safely and independently in their own home. Unlike a traditional seated or platform lift, a standing stairlift carries the user along the staircase while standing, without the need for a seat. This saves space, provides comfort, and allows greater freedom of movement, even on narrow staircases in single-family or multi-story homes.
Who is a standing stairlift suitable for?
A standing stairlift is suitable for people who are able to stand but feel unsteady or physically limited when climbing stairs. It is especially beneficial for:
- people with hip or knee arthritis, after surgery, or with limited bending ability;
- individuals with back problems or balance issues who can stand safely for short periods;
- users whose staircases are too narrow for a seated or platform lift.
Unlike other types of lifts, a standing stairlift does not require sitting down completely. This makes it ideal for narrow or steep staircases, such as those often found in older Swiss homes or apartment buildings. The standing position allows users to maintain their independence at home without major structural modifications.
